Season 2, Episode 3

Making sure people can embody the diversity of our world in the metaverse isn’t just good for inclusion, it’s good for business. For Ristband CEO and Co-founder, Anne McKinnon, building a robust, thriving metaverse first means learning from and empowering XR creators to be and express themselves in new virtual spaces—not just throwing technology at consumers and expecting them to come along.

Ristband’s experience platform is an open-world akin to “Grand Theft Auto series of games without the violence and nasty stuff,” allowing fan communities to gather together, play minigames and activities, and experience immersive content like concerts and more.

“Ristband is a vibrant world where creators can monetize their work, build their audience, and be a part of the ownership economy. Get the tools and insights you need to launch campaigns, monitor results, discover new talent and apply your skills to defining the next era of interactive entertainment. “

Anne’s commitment to creators and communities shines bright in this episode. First it’s the commitment to helping creators get paid for their work in the metaverse.

Then she reminds us that when “we are building platforms for the future of expression, we have to consider our world, which is a very diverse place—with so many different people, communities, values, beliefs, bodies, and abilities.”

In order to build this mindfully inclusive metaverse, we have to work with and learn from the users—this work never stops.
