Web XR & accessible digital content are enhancing everyday lives | April Robinson on The AR Minute

Season 2 | Episode 12
The most powerful & disruptive geomagnetic storms, the KP9, also create the most beautiful sightings of the aurora borealis—the Northern Lights. This is where KP9 Interactive's co-CEO, April Robinson likes to work—in between great power and great beauty.

Is this why she's so bullish on the power of Web XR? Web XR describes metaverse experiences that can be viewed through the mobile browser & attached peripherals without requiring the use of specific devices (iPhone/Android) or apps.

Initially starting as an AR and VR design and development company, KP9 Interactive ( https://www.kp9.ca/ ) quickly identified a crucial gap in the AR & VR user experience—there’s just not enough content out there to engage a wide population of humans in the metaverse.

How do you make more content that’s more accessible to more people? "You break down the barriers to making and sharing that content," Aprils tells Nathan C in this interview from AWE USA, in Santa Clara.

So, April and Co-founder, Wil McReynolds, have built a suite of accessible, no-code, no-app Web XR building and publishing tools like WorldCast ( worldcast.io ), ShowCast, PrintCast, and more.

Robinson points out that with today’s robust devices, powerful web browsers, and a wealth of research and tools, there’s no requirement for development and deployment to be time-consuming or cumbersome—even developers can build and launch AR apps quickly with no-code publishing and web links.

We applaud KP9’s approach to limiting the amount of personal data they require from users and their “opt-in” approach. This shows their commitment to user experience and privacy over the quick wins (and possible misuse) of maintaining a large customer data set.
